WICKHAM TROLLEY
Wickham Trolley No WD9024 This vehicle, number WD9024 type
2, was built by Wickhams of Ware in the mid 1950's for the
Ministry of Defence. It is powered by a 1300 cc Ford Escort
Mark II engine and has a top speed of 60 m.p.h. On disposal
from the MoD it was purchased by a member of the Swanage Railway
and spent many years on that line. It underwent a full restoration
and arrived on the C&PRR in November 1994. It is in full working
order and is in regular use. The photograph above shows the
Wickham being driven by the PW manager on a routine track
inspection before commencement of passenger services on Saturday
28th July 2001. |
